Prescribed fire is one of the most important and effective tools that we have to manage our forests today. It’s a tool that has been used to manipulate forests and open land by man kind since the beginning of time. Red Hill Forestry uses prescribed fire to accomplish silvicultural results as well as improve wildlife habitat. Site preparation burns are conducted from August through February to reduce logging debris, control natural pine, and improve planting access. Understory burning is usually done during the winter months and into the early growing season to reduce fuel loads, encourage wildlife habitat, and improve access and aesthetics.
We are certified to burn in North & South Carolina and always have a written plan and burning permit in place before burning. Every effort is made to conduct the burn in the safest way possible.
