GPS/GIS Mapping:

We use GPS and GIS mapping technology on a daily basis to create timber sale maps, delineate forest stands, analyze terrain, see soil types, and much more.  The technology is endless, and has dramatically improved our ability to efficiently and effectively manage forests and land. Boundary Line Maintenance:

Boundary lines are often overlooked on a property.  Yet this is the first thing that we look for when entering a property.  Having your property lines clearly marked on the ground will prevent a lot of potential issues in the future, especially when harvesting timber.  Property lines should be inspected yearly for any adjacent encroachments or timber trespass. Properly painted lines should last 6-10 years.

Timber Tax Determination:

We regularly assist landowners with determining their tax basis.  The tax basis is the fair market value of the timber on the property at the time of purchase or inheritance.  This is important when selling timber as it can save landowners thousands of dollars in tax consequence.  If you have never established a basis and have owned property for some years and decide to sell timber, we can calculate the estimated value of the timber by discounting current volumes to the time of purchase/inheritance and apply market values at that time.
